ABOUT piontech

Piontech is a Welsh tech startup with links to professionals and organisations in Cambridge, and West and South Wales.

Piontech develops products and ideas by bringing together experts-by-experience in need and academic and professional experts to create truly bespoke and accessible assistive tech for the most vulnerable people in society.

Piontech also has an objective of further contributing to knowledge and impact by offering research and training in order to significantly contribute to relevant academic fields as well as individual’s lives.

Dr Tania Davies (PhD, SHFEA, MSc, PGCE, KSPD, CertHE, PDC)

Chief Executive Officer

Tania is a behavioural scientist with expertise in social and health policy, educational and project management and research methods.

She is a Fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge and contributes to research at the Autism Research Centre and Institute of Public Health at the University of Cambridge.

The Piontech team is made up of three Directors and a range of experts offering consultancy and project-based work.

Dr Jay Philips (PhD, FHEA, PGCE, MSc, BSc)

Chief Technology Officer

Jay is a biomedical engineer with expertise in medical devices, pattern recognition and software development.

He is the Documentation Software Engineer for the Gaia Project at the Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambridge.

  • The most important team members. are our experts-by-experience, who live and breathe the problems and needs we aim to assist with. We have families of disabled children currently working with us on our products.

  • Our professional network spans HE and FE institutions based in South snd West Wales, as well as Cambridge, London and Birmingham. We have education specialists who can work with families as well as public bodies to ensure training and progression is evidenced as needed.

  • Ensuring the wellbeing and safety of service users and families working with Piontech is the highest priority. We have specialists in the fields of health policy, DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) and child protection assisting us with all aspects of product development and training.

Kurtis Edwards (LLB)

Chief Operating Officer

Kurtis is a law graduate specialising in corporate law and contracts currently undertaking his LLM and SQE qualifications at Queen Mary University, London.

He has experience as research hub associate in the University of Cambridge collegiate system and a Compliance Officer at Siarad Da, a Welsh charity which offers training and consultancy to support vulnerable young people.
